BOARD AND COMMITTEES
Participation in the ministries of the boards and committees is a wonderful way to build new relationships in the church. Board members are elected for a 3-year term and can serve 2 consecutive terms. Committee members are appointed for 1 year and can serve consecutive terms per church by-laws. The following represent board opportunities:
- Church Council: This is the executive body of this church. They manage the business, property and programs of the church through the elective boards, committees and officers.
- Christian Education Board: Our children and adults benefit from the leadership of the Christian Education Coordinator, and the Christian Education Board. Church school for all ages begins at 9:15 a.m. most Sundays from September to May. Confirmation classes are available for youth to learn more about their faith and our church before being confirmed into membership. Bible Study: There are 2 opportunities to participate, Monday or Thursday evenings.
Diaconate Board: Works with the pastor to minister to the spiritual needs of the church and it’s members. Deacons assist with Baptisms and Communion, including Home Communion for those unable to attend worship because of health issues. They are responsible for reception of new members into the church.
- Care Team: This team was formed in response to the needs of those unable to attend worship, but desiring regular contact with a church member.
- Facilities Board: The Trustees have a joyful sense of ministry in all that they do to keep the facility in fine form. They can always use extra hands to help with the work of maintaining the church and grounds.
- Finance Board: We benefit greatly from the careful attention to our finances provided by the Treasurer and the Finance Board. They are responsible for the annual budget and day-to-day financial matters of the church.
- Hospitality Board: Is responsible for recruiting members to serve during Coffee Hour following worship each Sunday. Each year they appoint a Funeral Service Team to see to refreshments as a family may request. They make all arrangements and recruit help for the Harvest Festival each year. A portion of the funds raised at this event are set aside for repair or replacement of kitchen and Fellowship Hall equipment.
- Missions Board: This board promotes missionary and stewardship education and giving. Click Missions for a complete list of the missions our church supports.
- Nominating Committee: Members are appointed annually to receive nominations and prepare a slate of all officers and members to elective boards.
- Personnel Committee: Has the responsibility for selection, assignment, compensation, and performance reviews of staff (secretary, CE Coordinator, organist, choir director, and nursery care provider). This committee is also responsible for review and revision of personnel policies.
- Pastoral Relations Committee: The purpose of the Pastoral Relations Committee is to support the pastor and optimize the pastor’s gifts and time in his/her relationship to the congregation. This may include helping the pastor prioritize his/her duties, providing feedback/evaluation of church programs, and facilitating communication between pastor and congregants when necessary.
- Worship Board: Works with the pastor to plan all worship services. They arrange for ushers, greeters, and video operators. They see that the church is appropriately decorated for the season. If the pastor is absent, they arrange for pulpit supply. Click here to for worship information.
